Portraits of Strangers

I met this young mother and her son at the Ranelagh Pub in my North London neighborhood in early 2010.  The Ranelagh was a very family friendly place by day, and usually quite deserted, which made it the perfect place for me to go to write.  Sometimes I brought my camera along and whenever the writing wasn't going well, I made friends and chatted with strangers about life and the world.

She was a single mom, and it was obvious that she adored this kid.  I couldn't help but ask her to pose for me as I was also enchanted with her beauty.  She was so pretty in the harsh (and rare!) English sun!  I don't remember her name.  The name of the boy was Carlyle.
